MOSCOW, Idaho - Stu Bell is tied for second and Gonzaga University is tied for third after 36 holes of the Vandal Fall Classic men's golf tournament Sunday at the University of Idaho Golf Course.
Bell shot 69-67 for a 36-hole total of 136 over the par 71, 6,663-yard Idaho layout. He's tied with Kevin Beavers of the University of Portland who shot a pair of 68's. Jason D'Amore of Loyola Marymount University is the leader going into Monday's final 18 holes after a 71-64 for a 145 and a narrow 1-stroke lead over Bell and Beavers as West Coast Conference golfers hold the top three spots following Sunday's play.
Trevor Loe shot a 67-74 for a 141 to help the Bulldog cause, knotting him for 13th after the first day.
The host Vandals put together identical rounds of 277 for a 36-hole total of 554 and a 5-stroke lead over Portland. Gonzaga and Simon Fraser University are tied for third at 570, two shots in front of Idaho State University and three ahead of the University of British Columbia.
