Bell, Loe Lead Men's Golf To Top Three Finish

MOSCOW, Ida. - Stu Bell and Trevor Loe each finished in the Top 10 on Monday morning as the Bulldogs finished in third place the Idaho Vandal Fall Classic. Gonzaga fired a team score of 288 during the final round to finish two shots ahead of West Coast Conference competitor Loyola Marymount University. Bell finished in a tie for sixth with Kevin Chen of Washington State University at 210 while Loe was in a group of four players one stroke back.

The University of Idaho won the team title with a three-round total of 833 followed by the University of Portland in second at 845, Gonzaga in third at 858 and LMU fourth at 860.

Jason D'Amore of LMU held on to win individual honors with a final round score of 68 to finish at 203 overall. D'Amore had shot the low round of the tournament on Sunday with second round 64. Kevin Beavers of Portland was two strokes back at 205 for a second place finish.

Gonzaga's five-some of golfers was rounded by Ryan Miller in a tie for 24th, Matt Munroe tied for 34th and freshman Reyn Tanaka tied for 43. Loe had the low round of the day with a 70 while Bell carded the Bulldogs lowest weekend number on Sunday with a 67. Jimmy Hayes finished tied for 46th and John Bergren tied for for 54th with both players competing as individuals.

Gonzaga returns to action on Oct. 10-11 with a trip to the Boise State Invitational.
