Christina Davis Collects 20 Kills In Volleyball Loss

BOISE, Ida. - Four Boise State University players reached double digit kills on Friday night as the host Broncos knocked off Gonzaga University in the opening round of the DoubleTree Club Bronco Invitational. BSU improved to 2-0 winning the match in four games by scores of 30-25, 30-27, 28-30, 30-23. Gonzaga dropped to 0-2 on the season and will face New Mexico State University and Weber State University on Saturday.

Cameron Flunder led all players with 23 kills as she finished with a .364 attack percentage. The Broncos combined for a .278 attack percentage while Gonzaga was limited to a .181 attacking night. The Bulldogs top hitting game was in the second game loss in which they finished with 15 kills and a .317 hitting percentage.

Gonzaga senior outside hitter Christina Davis continued her push towards a 1,000 kills as she led the Zags with 20 kills bringing her career total to 969. Davis finished with a .200 attack percentage while freshmen Briawna Mueller and Becky Jones also finished hitting over .200. Setter Emilee Gihring was the Bulldogs most effective offensive player dropping in seven kills for a .538 attacking night.

Jamie Claussen, Telia Peterson and Kim Fenneman rounded out the Boise State players with double digit kills. Claussen also had 17 kills while Jackie Stroud led all players with 24 kills. Jessica Herrera was the top Gonzaga defensive player with 18 digs.
