LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The Gonzaga University women's soccer team battled to a scoreless tie with Loyola Marymount University Sunday afternoon in a West Coast Conference match at Sullivan Field.

With the tie the Bulldogs move to 10-3-2 overall and 1-1-1 in WCC play, GU's second best WCC start in program history. LMU moves to 4-7-4 overall and 0-2-1 in the WCC.

The Bulldogs almost broke into the scoring column several times as the Zags peppered the Lions goalkeeper with 18 shots, seven on goal. One of the Bulldogs best scoring opportunities came in the 57th minute when sophomore Cristin Leverson hit a laser shot at the goal that was blocked by the Lions and bounced to sophomore Nanda McCormick. McCormick then tried to punch the ball past LMU goalkeeper Joslyn Slovek, only to see Slovek registered the save.

Gonzaga's senior goalkeeper Ashley Haugen allowed no goals and recorded five saves in the match. Her counterpart, Slovek, also allowed no goals while recording a match high six saves.

Gonzaga outshot the Lions 18-13 and had a slight 7-6 advantage in corner kicks.

The Bulldogs will return to the pitch on Friday as they open a two-match WCC home stand with an 11 a.m. match against the University of San Diego. On Sunday, the Bulldogs will host No. 5 Santa Clara University in a 1 p.m. match.
