SPOKANE, Wash. - Three Pepperdine University players finished in double figure kills as the Waves won a rare Thursday night West Coast Conference match over the host Gonzaga University Bulldogs in Spokane. Gonzaga had one player finish in double figures as sophomore Becky Jones led all players with 17 kills in the 3-0 loss. Pepperdine won 30-15, 30-23, 30-16 to improve to 16-11 overall, 9-4 in the WCC. Gonzaga dropped to 10-20 overall and 2-11 in the WCC. The Bulldogs close out the 2005 season on Saturday night with a 7 p.m. match against Loyola Marymount University.

Jones battled to keep the Bulldogs in the match as they played well in the opening portions of games one and two. Jones had her 17 kills on 48 attacks as she was the only Gonzaga player to finish with more than 6 kills on the night. Gonzaga's best effort was in game two as the Bulldogs rallied from six points down to close to within one point at 23-22. Pepperdine would score 7 of the next 8 points to close out the game. Redshirt freshman Tianna Tuatagaloa helped Gonzaga during the game two rally as she connected for four of her six kills.

Freshman Julie Rubenstein led the Waves three pronged attack with 16 kills on 31 attacks. She had just one error finishing with a .484 attack percentage. The Waves combined for 59 kills with only 11 errors and a .369 attack percentage. Sophia Milo and Katy Daly each added 12 kills for the Waves.

Pepperdine also used its size advantage as the Waves picked up 23 total blocks including 5 solo blocks. Milo led all players with 7 blocks while setter Melissa Mehlhorn picked up two solo blocks. Gonzaga had only six blocks all night with Briawna Mueller having one solo block and one block assist.
