AUBURN, Wash. - Gonzaga University rebounded to shoot a second-round 302 and move out of last place during the final round of the Washington Winter Championship on Tuesday.
The tournament was reduced to 36 holes when frost Monday and Tuesday morning delayed the start of the scheduled 54-hole tournament at the Washington National Golf Course .
The Bulldogs finished with a 623 for eighth place, just two shots behind West Coast Conference foe University of Portland and a stroke better than the Washington State University JV. The University of Oregon JV shot 603 for a 7-stroke victory over Western Washington University.
Jimmy Hayes and Trevor Loe were the top Bulldogs finishers at 153, Hayes shooting 76-77 and Loe an 82-71 over the 7,299-yard, par 72 layout. The duo finished in a seven-way tie for 14th.
Jay Snyder of the Oregon JV claimed medalist honors with a 145 for a 1-stroke victory over Christian Akau of the University of Idaho JV.
