LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. - The Gonzaga University men's golf finished with their best score of the tournament on Wednesday morning as the Bulldogs fired a team score of 309 to finish 9th at the Anteater Invitational at El Niguel Country Club. Gonzaga opened tournament play on Monday with rounds of 319 and 325, finishing the tournament with a score of 953.
John Bergren regrouped from two opening rounds in the 80's to shoot a team-best 74 on Wendesday and move into a tie for 38th with a three day total of 240. Trevor Loe continued to lead the Bulldogs golfers with a final round 77 to finish in a tie for 26th.
Reyn Tanaka and Matt Munroe both finished at 241 for the tournament and were grouped in a tie for 41st while Jimmy Hayes finished in 52nd. The tournament concludes a three tournament swing for the Bulldogs over Spring Break that included a third place finish at the rain shortened WTC Hero's Classic and a victory at the Ft. Lauderdale Tournament.
San Jose State University collected both top team and individual honors. The Spartans finished with an 892, good for a 10-stroke victory over UC Irvine. First day leader David Kim continued his hot play shooting an even-par 72 to win the tournament at two-under.
