SPOKANE, Wash. - Junior catcher Kiel Thibault's 2-for-3, two RBI performance helped lift the Gonzaga University baseball team to a 10-3 West Coast Conference win over Loyola Marymount University Thursday afternoon at Avista Stadium.

With the win the Zags improve to 14-9 overall and 2-2 in WCC play, while the Lions drop to 9-13 overall and 3-1 in WCC play.

Gonzaga did most of its damage in the seventh inning as the Bulldogs put up five runs on four hits. Thibault got things started for the Bulldogs with his RBI single to left field which brought across second baseman Scott Campbell, who had doubled. Center fielder Jeff Culpepper then hit a two-run homer off of Lions starting pitcher Stephen Kahn. The final two runs of the inning came on back-to-back bases loaded walks to put the game at its final of 10-3.

The Lions were able to cut into the Bulldogs 5-0 lead in the sixth inning as they scored three runs on three hits, but were unable to come any closer as the Bulldogs pitchers put the LMU bats on ice.

Offensively for the Bulldogs, GU had two players record multiple hits on the day. Campbell went 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored, and Thibault went 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored.

Right-hander Josh Monroe (4-1) picked up the Bulldogs allowing three runs, one earned, on six hits in 5.2 innings of work. Kahn (2-2) was saddled with the loss for the Lions allowing eight runs on nine hits in 6.2 innings of work.

The Bulldogs will return to the diamond on Friday as they host Loyola Marymount in a 2 p.m. game at Avista Stadium
