A Look At What They Are Saying About The Women's Basketball Squad

Dec. 8, 2009

SPOKANE, Wash. - Let's take a look at what the nation is saying about the Gonzaga University women's basketball team.

1. ESPN.com has the Bulldogs ranked second in the mid-major rankings.

Graham Hays states "Stanford proved it could run with the Bulldogs, cruising to a 105-74 win three days after Thanksgiving, but few other teams are staying with Gonzaga. Coach Kelly Graves' team has yet to score fewer than 70 points in a game. Courtney Vandersloot's shooting numbers haven't stabilized yet, but she's averaging better than 10 assists per game. Games against Baylor and Texas A&M in Las Vegas the week before Christmas offer one last chance to make a statement out of conference." See the full mid-major list HERE.

2. Leftcoasthoops.com has Gonzaga ranked as the second best team in the West, only behind Stanford University.

Michelle Smith states "The Zags continue to impress. I voted for them in this week's AP poll. They need a little more love to bust into the Top 25. PG Courtney Vandersloot is the national leader in assists at 10.2 per game." Full list can be found HERE.

3. Gonzaga continues to increase its votes in the Associated Press top 25 poll. The Bulldogs, after a 3-0 week, increased to 11 votes this week, putting them at 35th. Full poll HERE.

4. The Bulldogs are also receiving votes in the ESPN/USA Today top 25 poll. Gonzaga received 11 votes in this week's poll to stand 33rd. Full poll HERE.

5. Courtney Vandersloot is still leading the nation in assists per game at 10.7 and is third in steals at 4.6 per contest. As a team, Gonzaga is 14th in the nation in scoring average at 79.4 and fifth in assists per contest at 19.3. Go HERE for the full NCAA Division I women's basketball statistics.
