Falkowski Posts Win As Zags Fall To EWU

Feb. 19, 2009

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Gonzaga University men's tennis fell 6-1 to Eastern Washington University in a non-conference match at the Spokane Racquet Club Wednesday night.

The Bulldogs (5-4) were led by freshman Tomasz Falkowski who posted a win at number six singles and the number three doubles pairing of senior Stefan Feddersen and Falkowski who also earned win for the Zags. Gonzaga could not pick up the doubles point after losing two heartbreakers including a 9-8 (7-5) defeat at number two doubles in which saw the Bulldogs serve for match point on a couple occasions.

Following doubles play, EWU, a 2008 NCAA Tournament participant, held off a couple Bulldog rallies in the singles matches to pick up the win. Sophomore Conor Feeney's attempt at a comeback victory fell short in his number three singles match. Feeney had dropped the first set but battled back by taking the taking the second set to force a third and deciding set that was eventually won by Pannhara Mam.

Gonzaga will head to northern California for three West Coast Conference matchups set for Feb. 27-Mar. 1.
