Bulldogs Drop Opening Weekend Match To Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Gonzaga University men's tennis team had its record fall to 3-2 with a 7-0 setback to the University of Portland at the Louisiana-Pacific Tennis Center in Portland, Ore. Friday afternoon.

After taking two of their three matches in Colorado Springs, Colo. last weekend, the Bulldogs (3-2, 0-1 WCC) will attempt to bounce back and do the same this weekend after dropping its opening match of the weekend to the Pilots. Portland earned win after taking the doubles point by posting wins in each of the doubles matchups and then won all six of the singles matches.

Senior Stefan Feddersen and sophomore Conor Feeney were the highlights for the Zags as Feddersen played well at number one singles but dropped the match 6-4, 6-4. Feeney won his first set 7-6 while playing at number two singles for the first time this season but then lost the next two sets 7-5, 6-0.

Gonzaga continues play in Portland, Ore. on Saturday, facing Portland State University before wrapping up the road trip Sunday against the University of Northern Colorado.
