PORTLAND, Ore. - The depth of the Gonzaga University men's tennis team proved to be a deciding factor in the Bulldogs 6-1 win over Portland State University Saturday afternoon.
Redshirt sophomore Zach Peach took the roster spot of an injured Conor Feeney in the singles matches and came out with an impressive 6-2, 6-2 win for the Zags (4-2). All of the Bulldogs moved up a slot in the singles rotation with the exception of senior Stefan Feddersen who has played at number one singles in all six matches this season. All five players that were playing out of their normal rotation won their respective matches to give the Bulldogs their third win in the last four matches.
"Every player played good solid tennis today," said head coach Peter MacDonald. "I was very pleased with how each player stepped up their game after Conor got injured. I was also very happy with how Zach played in his match. He stepped in and produced a big win for us today."
The Bulldogs wrap up play in Portland on Sunday against the University of Northern Colorado.
