SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University closed out its regular season with a 6-1 win over Portland State University Sunday afternoon. Stefan Feddersen and Mike Merz paired up to win at No. 3 doubles in the final home match of their careers.
Gonzaga (9-13) swept all three doubles matches and later took five of the six singles matches to post its third consecutive win. Roman Dojcak held off Alex VanDerschelden 7-6, 7-5 to record a win at No. 2 singles in the day's closest match. Conor Feeney avenged a first set loss by winning the next two sets to post a No. 3 singles win.
The Bulldog's team-leader in wins, Jake Davis, recorded win number 13 on the season with a 6-4, 6-1 No. 4 singles win. Scott Sullivan became the second Zag to record double-digit wins, beating Adam Blackner 6-7, 6-3, 6-3 at No. 5 singles for his 10th win of the season. Tomasz Falkowski also won at No. 6 singles.
Next up for Gonzaga are the West Coast Conference championships beginning Thursday in San Diego, Calif.
