Vandersloot Tabbed State Farm Coaches' All-America Honorable Mention

April 6, 2009

ATLANTA - Gonzaga University women's basketball sophomore Courtney Vandersloot garnered her second All-America honor of the season after being named WBCA/State Farm Coaches' All-America honorable mention. With this accolade, Vandersloot became the inaugural Bulldog in women's basketball history to be named both AP and State Farm Coaches' All-American.

Vandersloot, who early last week was the third overall Bulldog to be named AP honorable mention, was named West Coast Conference Player of the Year after helping Gonzaga to its fifth-straight regular-season title with a 12-2 mark. She also was named the WCC Tournament Most Valuable Player after guiding the Zags to their second tournament title in three years. Vandersloot became the first player to grab both WCC Player of the Year and Tournament MVP honors since Jerkisha Dosty from Saint Mary's in 2001.

Vandersloot finished the season third in the nation in assists per contest, dishing out 7.4, and 16th in assist-to-turnover ratio at 2.0. She became only the sixth player in Zag history to score 500-plus points in a single-season, finishing with 524 and became the single-season assist leader, handing out 239. She currently is third in the career record book in assists (430) and 10th in three-pointers made (68).
