SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Four members of the Gonzaga University women's soccer team were awarded All-West Coast Conference honors as selected by the coaches Wednesday.

Senior midfielder Sheridan Jones earned All-WCC second team honors for the second consecutive year while senior midfielder Catherine Cullen, redshirt junior defender Elle Sweeney and freshman forward Cassie Geerdts received honorable mention.

It is also the third consecutive season Jones earned All-WCC accolades. The native of Hillsboro, Ore., became Gonzaga's fourth player to be selected to first team All-WCC in 2008. An All-WCC pre-season selection for the second consecutive year, Jones scored one goal and notched five assists this season. She exits her collegiate career second on the all-time assists list with 14. She was one away from tying Sara Streufert (1997-2000) for the record.

It is also the second consecutive season Sweeney earned honorable mention. The native of Highlands Ranch, Colo., emerged as one of the conference's top defenders, helping the Zags post four shutouts. Sweeney scored first career goal against Loyola Marymount University and had a pair of assists this season.

As she concluded her final season in a Bulldog uniform, Cullen exits having earned her first All-WCC honor. The native of Sidney, British Columbia, started all matches for two consecutive seasons. This season she scored two goals and had two assists. She also earned WCC Player of the Week on Sept. 27 for her performance against then 22nd-ranked University of Southern California and Portland State University.

Geerdts had an outstanding first year with the Zags. Although she came off the bench in the season-opener against the University of Utah, Geerdts earned her way into the starting role after notching her first career assist in the Bulldogs 2-1 win against the Utes. With three goals and seven assists, she finished second on the team in scoring with 13 points, three behind junior Sarah Rhodes.

For the fourth straight season, the University of Portland posted an unbeaten conference record and was rewarded with the Player of the Year and the Coach of the Year honors. Portland senior Keelin Winters took home the West Coast Conference's top honor, while Pilots' head coach Garrett Smith earned the league's top coaching accolade. Portland senior Jessica Tsao was named the WCC Defensive Player of the Year, while Santa Clara University's Julie Johnston won the league's Freshman of the Year award.
