SPOKANE, Wash. - Kim Hill led all players with 14 kills and a .481 hitting percentage as Pepperdine University defeated the Gonzaga University women's volleyball team in three sets in a West Coast Conference match at the Martin Centre Saturday afternoon. The Waves, who improved to 19-7 overall and 10-2 in conference, combined for 44 kills during the 25-18, 25-22, 25-4 victory. With the loss, the Bulldogs dropped to 3-26 overall and 1-12 in league play.

The Zags, who were coming off their first victory in 24 matches, struggled to find any offensive rhythm as they finished with 18 kills and a -.040 hitting clip. Senior Schylur Edelman and sophomore Terran Poindexter combined for 10 of GU's 18 kills. Edelman added two solo blocks and four block assists and Poindexter had five digs.

Junior setter Denise Van de Mortel ended the match with 15 assists, four digs, three block assists and one service ace.

Two Bulldogs finished in double-figure digs. Freshman Kristina Lavrisha had a team-high 11 and junior Laura Day added 10. As a team, Gonzaga collected 42 digs.

Hill and the Waves were solid all afternoon, finishing with .276 attacking percentage, including a .500 hitting percentage in their lopsided 21 point third-set victory. Besides Hill, Lilla Frederick added nine kills and Brittney Clark had seven.

Pepperdine was led defensively by Stevi Robinson who had 17 of the teams 51 digs.

Gonzaga now welcomes its final non-conference opponent to the Martin Centre Wednesday. The Bulldogs host Eastern Washington University at 7 p.m.
