SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University women's basketball senior Courtney Vandersloot was named to the Sporting News Magazine 2010-11 Preseason All-America First Team and the Lindy's Magazine 2010-11 Preseason All-America Third Team in their respective college previews, in newsstands now.
Joining Vandersloot on the Sport News Preseason All-America First Team are Shayla Diggins (Notre Dame), Victoria Dunlap (Kentucky), Brittney Griner (Baylor), Amber Harris (Xavier), Jantel Lavender (Ohio State), Maya Moore (Connecticut), Nnemkadi Oguwmike (Stanford), Danielle Robinson (Oklahoma), and Jasmine Thomas (Duke).
Joining Vandersloot on the Lindy's Magazine Third Team are Jasmine Dixon (UCLA), Shekinna Stricklen (Tennessee), Thomas and Diggins.
Vandersloot and the Bulldogs will face both Diggins and Oguwmike this season. GU plays Stanford and Oguwmike Nov. 21 in the McCarthey Athletic Center and face Notre Dame and Diggins on Dec. 29 at KeyArena in the Seattle U Holiday Hoops Classic.
These are the second and third preseason accolades for the point guard from Kent, Wash. Vandersloot was also named to the prestigious "Wade Watch" list for the State Farm Wade Trophy Division I Player of the Year.
Eleventh-year head coach Kelly Graves and the Bulldogs are also featured in an article in Lindy's titled `Equitable Terms'.
