Macon, Ga. - Gonzaga University's men's golf team shot a final round 296 Sunday for its best day of the tournament and Peter Gullickson and Travis Johnsen each finished at 219 to tie for 20th at the Brickyard Collegiate Championship at the Brickyard at Riverside.
The Bulldogs, who had slipped into last place with Saturday's 316 on the middle day of the 54-hole tourney, finished 14th at 912, two shots ahead of the Air Force Academy.
Gullickson finished with a 2-under par 70 to go with rounds of 75-74, while Johnsen shot a final-round even-par 72 over the 7,175-yard, par 72 course after rounds of 68-79. Unlike Saturday when birdies were hard to come by for the Bulldogs, Gullickson and Johnsen had five each and no double-bogeys.
Georgia Tech cruised to the team title with an 848, good for a 17-shot victory over Florida State University. Brooks Koepka of FSU captured medalist honors at 205 with rounds of 66-70-69 for a 4-stroke victory over Anders Albertson and Seth Reeves of Georgia Tech.
The Bulldogs will conclude the fall season Oct. 28-30 at the Cabo Intercollegiate hosted by Santa Clara University in Los Cabos, Mexico.
