SPOKANE, Wash. - The Gonzaga University women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision (25-15, 25-12, 26-24) to Saint Mary's College in its last home match of the 2011 season. Junior Kylie Edinger recorded a team-high seven kills, and had three blocks for the Bulldogs. Redshirt sophomore Meredith Crenshaw added five kills and three block assists in the three-set loss.
The Bulldogs have lost six-straight and are now 7-17 overall and 1-12 in the West Coast Conference.
Senior setter Denise Van de Mortel, playing in her final match at the Martin Centre, passed out 20 assists and notched a team-best .400 hitting percentage with four kills.
As a team, Gonzaga had 26 kills, with 19 attack errors, on 95 total attempts for a sub-par .074 attacking percentage.
Saint Mary's (13-12, 7-6 WCC) was led by Gabby Jolly who put away a match-high 11 kills. Natalie Loos added 10 kills and had a match-high .692 attacking clip.
The Gaels closed out the match with 49 kills, 19 errors on 102 attack attempts for a .294 hitting percentage.
Gonzaga returns to action Thursday when it plays at Santa Clara University. Match time is set for 6 p.m.
