SPOKANE, Wash. - The Seattle Sports Commission (SSC) has named former Gonzaga University women's basketball All-American Courtney Vandersloot as one of the nominees for Female Sport Star of the Year. The 77th annual award show is presented by ROOT SPORTS and will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 25 at Benaroya Hall in Seattle, Wash.

Nominated along with Vandersloot is Jenn Salling (University of Washington softball), Julie Woodward (Seattle University women's soccer head coach), Maddie Meyers (Northwest high school runner) and Queen Underwood (USA Boxing).

Fifty percent of the vote is comprised of fan voting. Fans are encouraged to vote for Vandersloot by clicking here. Voting is open until Friday, Jan. 20.

Vandersloot, the No. 3 selection by the Chicago Sky in the 2011 WNBA Draft, ended her career as the most prolific player in Bulldog and West Coast Conference history. The unprecedented three-time WCC Player of the Year and WCC Tournament Most Valuable Player became both Gonzaga's and the WCC's first consensus All-American, being named to the Coaches' State Farm All-America Team, the John R. Wooden All-America squad and the USBWA All-America team in 2010-11. She became the first player, men's or women's, in NCAA Division I history to close out their career with 2,000 points and 1,000 assists, finishing with 2,073 points and 1,118 assists. She broke the NCAA single-season assist record in her final season with 367 and the GU single-season scoring mark with 712. She was named the Frances Pomeroy Naismith Player of the Year and won the Nancy Lieberman Award as the top point guard in the nation.

Vandersloot led the Zags to the post-season each of her four years, reaching the schools then-first NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen in 2010 and the programs first trip to the Elite Eight in 2011.
