Zags Four-Game Win Streak Snapped With Loss To Tigers

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Gonzaga University baseball team saw its four-game winning streak come to an end Tuesday as the Bulldogs fell to the University of Missouri 5-2.
The Bulldogs (4-6) were held to two hits against the Tigers (4-7). Chris Sturdivant singled on a bunt in the sixth inning and Maxx Garrett extended his hitting streak to four games with a solo home run in the seventh inning. Although he finished the day 0-for-4, Keegan Acker got a RBI with a sacrifice fly in the sixth.
Billy Moon (1-1) took the loss in his first start season after allowing all five of the Tigers runs in three innings. Kenny Smith had a strong outing of relief, allowing three hits, a walk and striking out three in 4 2/3 frames.
Moon got into a jam in the first inning. After giving up a one-out single to right field and a fly out to center field, he walked three consecutive batters to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead. He would get out of the jam with a strikeout. He cruised through the third inning with a fly out and a strikeout but then allowed five singles and a walk to give the Tigers a 5-0 lead.
The Bulldogs wrap up their two-game series with the Tigers Wednesday at 2 p.m. PT.
