SPOKANE, Wash. - The Gonzaga University women's tennis team returns to action with a road match against Eastern Washington University Thursday at 5 p.m.
HEAD COACH D.J. GURULE ON THURSDAY'S MATCH: "We have a short turn around coming into Thursday's match at Eastern, but I know the team is ready. We had a good practice yesterday and today. We are really focused on staying aggressive in both doubles and singles. Eastern is a tough team and I know that they are hungry for a win. We need to stay focused the entire match."
BULLDOGS VS. EAGLES: Gonzaga University and Eastern Washington University met twice last year, with the Zags winning both matches by a score of 6-1. The Bulldogs dominated all doubles matches and Rika Mehndiratta, Prue Teitzel, Kristina Zauere and Clare Dodge went unbeaten in singles play. The Bulldogs have won the last seven meetings against the Eagles. Their last loss was on Feb. 20, 2008 in Spokane.
ABOUT THE EAGLES: Eastern Washington University is still in search for its first win of the spring season, having lost all five matches. The Eagles are coming off a 7-0 loss at Boise State University last Friday and a 6-1 setback to the University of Idaho in Boise last Saturday. Moira Hedberg and Ryann Warner are leading the effort with two wins in singles play each.
