SPOKANE, Wash. - The Gonzaga University women's tennis team resumes its fall slate Friday as they head to the Pullman for the 2013 Cougar Classic hosted by Washington State University.
Along with the Zags and Cougars, Boise State University, University of Idaho, Lewis-Clark State College, Montana State University, University of Portland, Portland State University, Seattle University and Utah State University will all be participating.
Both singles and doubles action is broken into two draws; a crimson and gray flight. Gonzaga will compete in each.
The Crimson singles flight features four Bulldogs in the 32 player draw. Katie Edwards, Kylie Peek, Isabell Klingert and Samantha Polayes are spread out in the bracket with opportunity to meet in the semifinals.
In the Gray singles, Franziska Koehler, Hanley Caras and Alexandra Tallas are slated to compete.
The Bulldogs have two teams in the Crimson doubles draw. Teaming up for GU will be Edwards and Koehler and the other pair is Peek and Polayes.
Last week at the UM Gopher Invitational, Peek and Polayes teamed up and went 3-1 to take third place in their flight.
Gray doubles features Tallas and Klingert pairing up for the first time this season. Caras will also be in the draw but not with a Bulldog partner. She will team with Kaitlyn Brown of Boise State.
Action begins early Friday morning and will run all day. The championships of each draw will be played on Sunday.
