SAN BRUNO, Calif. - The Gonzaga University women's tennis team was selected to finish eighth in the 2014 West Coast Conference preseason coaches poll, the league announced Tuesday.
The Bulldogs received 20 points in the poll which ties them with University of Portland for eighth place. Atop the standings with 78 points is the 37th-ranked Saint Mary's College. The Gaels, with six first place votes, narrowly edged out the defending WCC Champion Pepperdine University. The Waves had four first place votes and 76 points total.
The Zags open the spring season Friday with local rival Eastern Washington University visiting the new home of the Bulldogs, the Stevens Center, at 5 p.m.
