WINNIPEG, Manitoba - Gonzaga University's Sean Walsh is tied for ninth and James Fahy is tied for 22nd after 36 holes of the Canadian Men's Amateur Championship Tuesday.
Sean Carlino of Hamilton, Ontario, the third Bulldog in the field, missed the cut of 146 with a second-round 75 for a 36-hole score of 155.
Walsh, playing the 6,812-yard, par 70 Elmhurst Golf and Country Club, shot a second-round 70 for a 138 halfway through the 72-hole competition. The native of Keller, Texas, had four birdies, 10 pars and four bogeys.
Fahy, from Vancouver, British Columbia, who played the 7,130-yard, par 72 Southwood Golf and Country Club, posted four birdies, 12 pars a pair of bogeys on his way to a second-round 70 and a 36-hole score of 142.
First-round co-leader Jonathan Garrick of Atherton, Calif., shares the second-round lead with Sam Sanders of Albuquerque, NM, who stand at 134.
The tournament continues through Thursday with the winner receiving an automatic berth into the 2015 RBC Canadian Open and this year's U.S. Amateur Championship. Walsh and Fahy have already qualified for the U.S. Amateur Aug. 11-17 at the Atlanta Athletic Club in Johns Creek, Ga.
