Zag Volleyball Wins Again, Sweeps Seattle U in Missoula

Missoula, Mont. - Lauren Joseph dished out 38 assists and added eight digs as the Gonzaga University volleyball team swept Seattle 3-0 Friday night at the University of Montana's West Auxiliary Gym to continue the programs' best start since 1990.

"We fought through some unforced errors in the third set and got it done," said head coach Dave Gantt. "In the first set we served well and we received serves. We didn't do that in the third, but we pushed back at 25-25 and then ran two off to end it."

Savannah Blinn had 16 kills and libero Macee Utecht added 14 digs as the Zags (8-2) handled the Redhawks (3-8) 25-12, 25-17, 27-25.

"Lauren put up a pretty gutty performance seeing how we didn't pass all that well," Gantt said. "She got the ball to the right person at the right time. Savannah did her usual thing and Paige Folger (five kills, five digs, and three blocks) gave us another consistent match."

The Bulldogs, who earned their fourth sweep of the season, were down 24-25 in the third set before rattling off three straight points to end the match, the last two on a kill by Blinn and a solo block by Imani Wimbush.

Gonzaga will play Montana (0-11) tomorrow at 5:00pm. The Griz fell to Seattle U in five sets on Thursday night.

"Montana runs a pretty fast offense and after watching us tonight I'm sure they will be prepared," added Gantt.
