SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga women's basketball has added Makenlee Williams, a transfer from Utah State University, to its roster. Following NCAA transfer rules, she will sit out the remainder of this season.

Williams joins the Zags after leaving Utah State for personal reasons. She narrowed her choices down to Gonzaga and Oregon, before going with the Bulldogs. Through seven games, she was leading the Aggies and was seventh in the Mountain West Conference in scoring, averaging 14.4 points per game. The Syracuse, Utah native scored a season-best 22 points at Oregon. Starting in six games, she scored in double-figures in all but one game this season. Williams reached the 20-point mark twice.

In her Utah State career, Williams reached double-digit scoring 35 times, along with 20 games with more than five rebounds. She appeared in 60 games at Utah State, making 53 starts. During her career, Williams averaged 11.1 points and 4.2 rebounds per game, shooting 46.5 percent (248-of-536) from the field, 39.2 percent (107-of-273) from three and 78.8 percent (63-of-80) from the free throw line.

Williams was a three-year letterwinner at Syracuse High School. She earned All-State and All-District titles during her senior season. She also helped SHS grab state titles in 2010 and 2012.

"Mak(enlee) is a great addition to our team," Gonzaga Head Coach Lisa Fortier said. "She will join the class that will graduate only Kiara Kudron, and will give us some length at the wing spot. She is a terrific shooter and knows how to compete. While she sits her year in residence, she will be able to learn our system, and challenge our active wings in practice, while putting in the work that will take her game to the next level.
