LAST TIME OUT:

  • The Zags split their opening weekend with a win at Utah State and loss at Utah. In Logan, the Zags beat the Aggies with two wins each from Samantha Polayes, Alex Bourguignon, and Sophie Whittle with Whittle claiming the clincher. Against the Utes, Whittle picked up the only GU point with her sixth consecutive singles win.

FAMILIAR FACES:

  • The Bulldogs are very familiar with the Montana players as they faced a Griz individual or doubles pair 18 times during the fall tournament season. Gonzaga prevailed in 16 of those 18 matches with Domonique Garley leading the way with five wins: two in singles play and three in doubles. All eight GU players have each faced an opponent from Montana, and all eight Grizzlies competed against a Zag.
  • Gonzaga and Montana have squared off 21 times since the 1999-2000 season with the Zags clinging to an 11-10 advantage. In fact, the Griz are the Zags' second-most frequent opponent during that time; only the 30 matches against Eastern Washington are more.
  • In comparison, the Bulldogs and Wolfpack have played each other just once since the turn of the millennium. Neither team still features a player who took part in that contest.

HOME SWEET HOME:

  • This weekend begins the Zags' 2016 home dual schedule and their third dual season in The Stevens Center. Since it opened in January 2014, Gonzaga has gone 14-9 in dual matches over the last two years, and they've posted an 86-44 record in singles play (.662 winning percentage) and 31-29 in doubles play (.517).
  • When considering tournament results, the Zags' results in The Stevens Center have been even stronger. Bulldog individuals have gone 117-53 over the last 24 months (.688) and pairs have gone 55-33 (.625) at home. Additionally, they've won three brackets and went undefeated in three round robin flights.
