FULL RESULTS

LAKE NATOMA, Calif. - The Gonzaga women's rowing team continued their fall schedule on Saturday as they traveled to Lake Natoma near Folsom, Calif. for the Head of the American regatta. The event was hosted by the Sacramento State Aquatic Center and took place on Lake Natoma, which is located within Nimbus Flat State Park. The Zags were competing in pairs only this year in the regatta.

Lauren English and Micailah Donner were the first Zags across the line at 21:03.4 in 15th place. Three spots back were Olivia Marsh and Lindey English at 21:08.1. Next across in 35th place was Charlotte Lepp and Casey Harder at 21:58.2 and Hannah Brown and Georgia Davey finished in 38th place with a time of 22:15.5. The final Zag pair of Caroline Maguire and Clare Manthey took 47th at 22:59.3. The race had a total of 55 participants with schools like USC, UCLA, Stanford, Cal, and Washington entered in the field.

"Competing in pairs this weekend was an eye opening experience," Zags head coach Glenn Putyrae said. "In the end we were able to reaffirm what we knew coming in and get some concrete feedback on where we need to improve. The focus this fall has been on skill development and accountability, and while we've made some advances, we have a lot further to go if we want to achieve our goals this spring."

The Zags are very familiar with the course at Lake Natoma, as The WCC Championships have been held at Lake Natoma every year since its inception in 1997, and the Zags have won 15 of the 20 WCC Championships on that course, including the last two years. In addition to last year's 16th place NCAA finish at Lake Natoma, the Zags finished in 17th place on the same course at the NCAA Championships in 2015.

The Bulldogs will finish up their 2016 fall season next weekend as they travel to the Head of the Lake in Seattle, Wash. to face many of the same opponents they saw today.
