CHENEY, Wash. - The (RV) Gonzaga Bulldogs won their 13th-straight game over Eastern Washington on Sunday afternoon with a 73-54 victory in Cheney.

Kiara Kudron had her first double-double of the season and fourth of her career with 13 points and 10 rebounds, leading the team in both catagories. Laura Stockton and Jill Barta each scored 12, with Stockton dishing six assists. The Zags had 16 assists compared to seven for EWU and held Delaney Hodgins, who came in averaging 21 points per game, to 13 points. The Zags' bench outscored the Eagles 21-9 and 10 Zags scored in the game.

"They have three players who score the majority of their points, and we wanted to get off right against them," Gonzaga head coach Lisa Fortier said. "We had great individual and team focus at the start of the game today."

The pace was slow in the half court early and Eastern hit a three to claim a 7-5 lead, but Emma Stach responded with a triple at the other end five minutes in. That sparked a 10-2 Gonzaga run that saw them lead 18-9 at the end of one quarter of play and a lead they would not give back. Kiara Kudron finished the quarter with four points, two rebounds, a block, and a steal. The Zags forced six Eagle turnovers in the first stanza.

A pass out from Jill Barta out to Jessie Loera for a deep three at 6:30 mark in the second quarter gave the Zags their biggest lead at that point, 26-12, forcing an EWU timeout. Eastern's top scorer Delaney Hodgins did not score until the six-minute mark of the second quarter. Barta got her first points for the Zags on a three-point play on the next possession. A mini run from EWU cut it to 11, 34-23, but Stach hit another three to quell the run. Out of a timeout to end the quarter, Zhané Templeton found Barta for a three and a 42-26 halftime lead. Barta started quiet but finished the half with nine points, leading the team. Stach scored nine on two threes and Laura Stockon added six points and four assists. The Zags forced 12 turnovers and shot 54 percent compared to 35 percent for EWU.

The third quarter started with eight foul calls in four minutes, but Barta and Kudron both scored to keep the Zags up 48-32. The Eagles trimmed that lead to 10, 50-40 at the four-minute mark, before Stockton finished a layup around a Barta screen to keep it at 12. The 7-2 run to finish the quarter saw GU only lose one point from the lead in the quarter.

A layup from Templeton pushed the Zags lead over 20, 65-44, four minutes into the fourth quarter. EWU got no closer than 18, and GU won 73-54.

Gonzaga (7-2) will take a week for finals and rest, and return to The Kennel on Monday, December 19 at 6 pm against Big Ten foe Northwestern.
