Box Score

BOISE, Idaho - The Gonzaga University men's tennis team began its final road trip of the season Saturday, falling 5-0 to No. 60 Boise State at the Boas Indoor Tennis Center in Boise, Idaho.

Boise State won the doubles point to begin the match, picking up wins at both Nos. 3 and 2 doubles by scores of 6-2 and 6-3, respectively. The top pairs contest, between Gonzaga's Hayden Smith and Jordan Smith and the Broncos' Kyle Butters and Toby Mitchell, was halted with the score tied at 4-all and left unfinished.

Once singles play started, the Broncos picked up two more points on courts four and two with wins over two of Gonzaga's freshmen. On court four, Emilio Moreno won four games in a 6-3, 6-1 loss while Ruadhan O'Sullivan won eight games total on court two.

Two more matches finished despite the teams playing until clinch as they ended at approximately the same time. On court five, Vicente Varas won eight games in a 6-4, 6-4 loss to Pedro Platzeck while Ronzai Saurombe won eight games total, forcing an extra game in the first set before falling 7-5, 6-3. Saurombe played on court six.

The match against the 60th-ranked Broncos was the Zags eighth against a ranked squad this season but only second in which they did not take any points.

The Zags will finish up the 2016 season with a conference match against No. 69 Loyola Marymount on Sunday, April 24 in Los Angeles. That match will begin at 11:00 a.m. with live stats and video available at www.GoZags.com.
