Vieth had an illustrious two-year career at Tacoma Community College. He twice picked up All-Region and All-Conference honors, earning both First Team ABCA/Rawlings Pacific Association All-American honors and the Northwest Athletic Conference's Most Valuable Player award as a sophomore. During his stellar second year, he led the league with a 1.221 on-base plus slugging and was second in the league with a .405 batting average. A Tacoma native, Vieth also tied for second with seven home runs and tied for third with 41 RBIs.
As a freshman at TCC, he hit .364, good for second-best on the Titans' squad. He also finished among the team's top two in five other categories, earning Second Team All-NWAC and Second Team All-Region. The Stadium High School graduate also won the league's Gold Glove award at first base as well. Coach Machtolf on Vieth: "Jake is a quality left-handed power hitter who also hits for average. We are very excited that he will be a Zag in 2017."
