LIGHT UP LUGER:
- Gonzaga is unveiling lights at its soccer complex, Luger Field, this season.
- The six new banks of lights give the Zags' women's and men's soccer programs the chance to play games when the sun sets. The lights provide an atmosphere that will grow an already energized fan base.
- Game times can be moved later, which prevents students from having conflicts with class. It also allows parents and families more time following work days and school days.
- There are a total of 228 bulbs on the half-dozen poles around the field.
- Opened in 2008, Luger Field is one of the best facilities on the West Coast. The first game on the new field was a women's soccer game against Portland State University, Aug. 24.
- The first of four phases included the main playing field and a practice field, the plaza, press box, main ticket booth, berms and site landscaping.
- Main grandstands were added, with locker rooms, concessions, and restrooms coming in future phases.
