MTEN Concludes First Tournament of Season

DAVIS, Calif.--Gonzaga's men's tennis team wrapped up its first tournament of the 2017 fall schedule Sunday, concluding play at the Aggie Invitational in Davis, Calif.
A trio of Zags ended their tournament with consolation singles victories. Junior Emilio Moreno downed UC Davis' Mitchell Iwahiro in straight 6-4 sets, and fellow junior Ruadhan O'Sullivan beat WCC foe Matis Bot of Saint Mary's 6-4, 7-5. Also tallying a WCC win, sophomore Vincent Rettke downed Pacific's Ross Watson in straight sets at 6-4, 6-3.
Another Bulldog went three sets during the tournament's final day as Simon Homedes Dualde took his first set against Tomas Wright of California 3-6. Wright countered with 7-5 and 6-1 wins in the final two, however, to claim the match. Homedes Dualde then fell in two sets to an opponent from Pacific in the afternoon.
Gonzaga is back in action next weekend at the Dar Walters Fall Classic in Boise, Idaho. That Boise State-hosted tournament will run Friday, Oct. 6 through Sunday, Oct. 8 at the Appleton Tennis Center.
