WSU 3-25 Results

PULLMAN, Wash. - The No. 18 Gonzaga Bulldogs won three of five races on Saturday in Pullman as part of the annual Fawley Cup against No. 12 Washington State.

In mostly cloudy conditions with an eight to nine mph headwind and moderate to mild chop, the varsity four, third varsity eight, and fourth varsity eight boats brought home wins for the Zags. The Zags' varsity four "A" and varsity four "B" finished first and second with times of 8:39.66 and 8:56.03, respectively, 13 seconds ahead of the four Cougars. The third varsity eight boat won with a time of 8:00.38, eight seconds ahead of the Cougars boat. The Bulldogs' fourth varsity eight boat won by two seconds with a time of 7:49.00.

WSU took home the varsity eight race with a time of 7:03.44, 13 seconds in front of the Zags, and the home second varsity eight boat won by five seconds with a time of 7:20.77.

"While we were disappointed with the results in the varsity eight race we were pleased in the performance of our fours and the third varsity and fourth varsity eights," Gonzaga head coach Glenn Putyrae said. "We have identified areas we can improve and look forward to getting on the water consistently so we can make some adjustments."

The Bulldogs will host Oregon State in their lone home regatta of the season next Saturday at Silver Lake, just outside of Spokane.
