SAN BRUNO, Calif.-Sophomores Graciela Rosas and Sophie Whittle were named West Coast Conference Doubles Team of the Week Tuesday after an unbeaten start to the WCC play last weekend.
The Zag pair went 2-0 against teams from San Francisco and Santa Clara over the weekend, helping the Zags clinch both doubles points en route to two 4-0 wins. On March 25 versus the Dons, Rosas and Whittle downed USF's Hanna Borjeson and Margarita Treyes 6-2 to clinch the doubles point, and they were the first to finish a day later after a 6-0 win over the Broncos' Nabila Farah and Caitlyn Frankel.
On the year, Whittle and Rosas are 4-0 with all four wins coming in the team's last four duals. They first paired together March 18 versus Cal Poly and have won every match since.
Rosas and Whittle are the second Bulldog duo to be named WCC Doubles Pair of the Week. Fellow sophomores Nevada Apollo and Domonique Garley earned the award Feb. 28. Also, two Zags earned WCC Singles Player of the Week honors earlier this season as well.
The Bulldogs (11-1, 2-0 WCC) are back in action on Thursday, March 30, with a 1:30 p.m. matchup at San Diego.
