April 9, 2017 Silverado Showdown Day One
Silverado Day Two Tee Times
NAPA, Calif. -- Bianca Pagdanganan led Gonzaga and the field on day one at the Silverado Showdown at the North Course at the Silverado Resort in Napa, Calif. on Sunday. The sophomore fired a five-under 67 to lead second place by one stroke. She birdied number eight to go even on the front, but caught fire on the back nine, rattling birdies at 12 and 13, and 16, 17, and 18 for her 67. She had the second-most birdies on the day in the field with six, and it marked her sixth round under par this season.
The Bulldogs finished the day tied for 11th at 301, 13-above par. Ciera Min tied for 39th with a +3, 75. She went +4 on the front, but birdied 14 for a one-under back nine. Jena Gao managed seven bogeys to go +7 with a 79, and tie for 77th. Jessica Mangrobang is tied for 80th after shooting an 80, and Diana Araneta is tied for 91st with a day one 85. Pagdanganan was -2 on the par-five holes, second-best in the field, and -3 on the par-four holes, also second in the field. As a team, the Bulldogs registered 57 pars, sixth highest in the field.
"This is a great golf course and beautiful day to play today," Gonzaga head coach Brad Rickel said. "Bianca played well from the start but got hot on the way in. She birdied her last three holes then five of her last seven. When she gets hot she definitely steps on the pedal and keeps going. The rest of the team will need to help her more tomorrow if we want to climb the team standings."
Stanford leads the field at -5, and Andrea Lee of Stanford, and Mariel Galdiano and Bethany Wu of UCLA are one stroke back of Pagdanganan.
The Bulldogs begin day two of the tournament tomorrow at 8:45 am. Live scoring is available at GoZags.com.
