July 26, 2017 NORMAN, Okla. â€"Gonzaga men's golfers David Ganz and Ryan Gaske were named Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars Wednesday.
Gaske received the honor for the second straight year. A new record number of student-athletes earned All-America Scholar status including 260 in Division I, 108 in Division II and 20 in NAIA. Additionally, 46 honorees were added to the previously released Division III Srixon/Cleveland All-America Scholars.
To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50-percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I, 78.0 in Division II, 78.0 in NAIA and 79.0 in Division III, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
Gaske appeared in all 10 events last season for GU. He had a team-low 73.87 scoring average, with six rounds of under-par or even-par. He had a low round of 69 in 2016-17 at the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational.
Ganz also appeared in all 10 events last season for the Bulldogs. He had one top-10 finish (tied for 6th at Itani Quality Homes Collegiate) and a 74.67 scoring average, with six rounds of under-par or even-par. His low round of 67 was the lowest on team, which he achieved twice last season, at the Itani Quality Homes Collegiate and the Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate.
