Aug. 21, 2017 SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- Gonzaga sophomore defender Madeline Gotta has been named the West Coast Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
Gotta is the first Bulldog to earn the honor since Sarah Rhodes was named the WCC Player of the Week on August 29, 2011.
Gotta helped Gonzaga to a 2-0 start to the season with a pair of home shutouts. She recorded an assist in Friday's 4-0 season-opening win over South Dakota before finding the back of the net in a 2-0 victory over Omaha Sunday.
The Bulldogs are 2-0 for only the fourth time in their program's history. This is the first season under head coach Chris Watkins.
