COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Gonzaga women's soccer team played to a scoreless draw at Air Force Sunday.
The Zags (4-2-2) had plenty of opportunities to open the scoring in the first half. GU outshot Air Force, 9-1, in the first 45 minutes, placing six shots on goal. The Bulldogs'
Samantha Heilman had an excellent chance in the 27
th minute hit the crossbar.
Air Force's Jennifer Hiddink made several impressive saves to keep Gonzaga scoreless. The senior finished with nine saves. The Zags'
Isabel Jones was tested only once and made the save.
The Bulldogs finished with a 13-9 advantage in shots, and 9-1 in shots on goal. All three of
Maggie Conners' shots were on goal for GU. Kaitlyn Cook had the shot on frame for the Falcons (1-2-3), and finished with a team-high three shots.
It was the fourth all-time meeting between the programs and the first to end in a draw. The Zags now have a 2-1-1 edge in the series.
Air Force is unbeaten in its last four contests, with three straight draws.
Gonzaga plays its fourth consecutive road game during a six-game stretch away from Spokane at Seattle Friday. The Redhawks (2-3-2) host Washington Sunday evening. Friday's game has a 7 p.m. start time, and will have live video and stats on GoZags.com.
