No. 5/6 Gonzaga Welcomes Pacific Thursday

Zags and Tigers meet for the 16th time

THE TIP-OFF:
- Gonzaga and Pacific meet for the 16th time on Thursday in the McCarthey Athletic Center, at 8 p.m. GU owns a 14-1 advantage in the series.
- The Zags have won the last 12 matchups in the series. GU has won all five meetings in Spokane, and all five have been inside the McCarthey Athletic Center. The Tigers lone victory in the series came in 1976.
- The Bulldogs are 12-0 against Pacific under Mark Few.
- Gonzaga is coming off a 91-48 conference-opening win over Santa Clara Saturday. Rui Hachimura scored 25 points and Brandon Clarke added 16 and five blocks. The Zags held SCU to 33 percent shooting from the field.
- Josh Perkins is seventh in the country with 111 assists and is eighth averaging 6.9 assists per game. Brandon Clarke is third in field goal percentage (68.9), second with 52 blocks and fifth averaging 3.25 blocks.
- The Zags are first in the nation in field goal percentage (53.2 percent), second in scoring offense (93.6), second in scoring margin (23.9), third with 306 total assists and third with 301 made free throws.
- GU has won the last five games by an average of 43.6 points, holding opponents to 49.6 points and 30.5 percent shooting from the field.
 
SERIES NOTES:
- This is the 16th all-time meeting between Gonzaga and Pacific.
- The Zags have won 14 of the previous 15 matchups in the series, including the last 12 straight. GU has won all five meetings in Spokane, and all five have been inside the McCarthey Athletic Center. GU is 6-1 in the meetings in Stockton.
- The Bulldogs are 12-0 against Pacific under Mark Few.
- The Tigers lone victory in the series came in Stockton in 1976, 70-60.
- Gonzaga cruised to an 81-48 win over the Tigers in last season's meeting in Spokane. The Zags outscored Pacific 50-27 in the second half. Rui Hachimura scored 19 points and Josh Perkins added 16 points.
- GU won the latest meeting between the teams, 71-61, in Stockton on Feb. 8. The Bulldogs led for 36 minutes and were paced by Killian Tillie's 21 points and 10 rebounds.
- The Zags edged Pacific, 85-83, in the first-ever meeting in Stockton on Feb. 5, 1959.
 
SCOUTING THE TIGERS:
- Pacific opened West Coast Conference play with a pair of setbacks to BYU at home and at San Diego.
- The Tigers fell at USD, 73-64, Saturday. The Toreros shot 47 percent from the field, while Pacific was 38 percent.
- The Tigers' Jahlil Tripp was 10-of-15 from the field and scored a game-high 24 points. He added five rebounds and three steals. Roberto Gallinat chipped in 19 points and Lafayette Dorsey scored 10.
- Pacific tops the West Coast Conference shooting 77 percent from the free-throw line. Dorsey is No. 1 in the WCC at 92.3 percent from the line, and Gallinat is third at 87.3 percent.
- Gallinat leads the Tigers averaging 15.3 points per game, Dorsey adds 12.4 and Tripp is scoring 11.4.
- Tripp is ninth in the league averaging 6.5 rebounds a game and fifth shooting 61 percent from the field.

- Be Gonzaga's 28th straight over an unranked team.
- Extend GU's home win streak to 16.
- Extend Gonzaga's national best conference win streak record to 16.
- Extend GU's conference win streak to 13.

CONFERENCE OPENING SUCCESS
- Gonzaga has now won 23 straight West Coast Conference openers, dating back to a 72-61 loss at Santa Clara in 1996.
- The Zags have won all 20 West Coast Conference openers under Mark Few.

- Gonzaga has won the last five games by an average of 43.6 points. Over the last five games, the Zags are averaging 93.2 points and holding opponents to 49.6 points.
- GU is limiting opponents to 30.5 percent shooting from the field, while making 55.5 percent from the field on the offensive end over the last five games.
- On the defensive end in the last five games, Bulldog foes have been held to 19.6 percent (21-of-107) shooting from behind-the-arc and have been forced into 89 turnovers.
