SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Gonzaga volleyball team fell in three sets (25-17, 25-18, 25-17) at Santa Clara Thursday evening at the Leavey Center in Santa Clara, Calif.
Nine Zags finished with at least a kill in the match, led by
Sarah Penner and
Payton Mack with five apiece.
Jenna Kuehn finished with 20 assists, nine digs and three kills; the senior now has 1,743 career assists and is two assists shy of fifth all-time in program history.
Gonzaga (6-13, 0-7 WCC) finished with 28 kills, 26 assists, 43 digs and 3.0 blocks. Santa Clara (13-7, 3-4 WCC) finished with 36 kills hitting .283, 34 assists, 43 digs and 6.0 blocks. The Broncos were led by Julia Sangiacomo with 11 digs hitting .269 and 11 digs. Michelle Shaffer added 18 assists.
Gonzaga continues play at San Francisco Oct. 19 at 12 p.m. at War Memorial Gym.
