SPOKANE, Wash. – The Gonzaga volleyball team extended its win streak to four matches with a four-set victory over San Francisco (19-25, 25-17, 25-23, 25-22) Thursday evening inside the Martin Centre.
Three players finished with double-figure kills for Gonzaga (10-16, 4-10 WCC), led by
Sarah Penner with 17 kills to go along with two digs and five blocks.
Kennedy Croft added 11 kills and a career-high 18 digs, while
Abby Knapp added a career-high 10 kills hitting .409.
Julia Talarico led the Bulldogs with 24 digs, while
Jenna Kuehn finished with a double-double of 30 assists and 17 digs.
"We have committed to serving tough and passing steady," head volleyball coach
Diane Nelson said. "When those two things come together, we can click pretty well. My team is playing free, and it's fun to see them be successful."
The Bulldogs hit .239 on the night, connecting for 61 kills with 56 assists and three service aces. Gonzaga was stellar defensively, finishing with 79 digs; that number ranks tied for 10
th all-time for digs in a four-set match during the rally scoring era. The Zags also added 11.0 blocks for their fourth double-figure blocks match of the season.
San Francisco (6-19, 2-12 WCC) was led by Kathya Garcia with 17 kills hitting .341 to go along with 12 digs. Emily Zinger added 16 kills, while Ally Wada finished with 42 assists.
Gonzaga continues play at home Saturday, Nov. 16 against visiting Santa Clara at 12 p.m. inside the Martin Centre.
