SEATTLE – The Gonzaga men's rowing team posted a strong showing at the 40
th annual Head of the Lake Regatta, hosted by the Lake Washington Rowing Club and the University of Washington on Lake Washington.
"I thought our boats raced well today given that we missed a good portion of practice this past week due to the cold weather," head men's rowing coach
Dan Gehn said.
Gonzaga's varsity eight boat finished the three-mile course in 16:09.281, finishing third in the Collegiate/Open 8+ Ben Porter Cup. Washington placed first with a time of 15:10.788, while Oregon State took second at 15:53.128. Washington State (16:26.572), San Diego (16:58.281), Seattle (17:05.018) and Western Washington (17:14.059) closed out the final four in the flight.
In the JV eight, Gonzaga's boat finished fourth with a time of 17:35.517. Washington also took first in the Men's Collegiate JV 8+, crossing the finishing line in 15:26.527.
Gonzaga's third varsity eight took fifth in the Men's Collegiate 3v 8+, completing the three-mile course in 17:31.147. Washington's 3V8 claimed first with a time of 15:44.782.
