KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Gonzaga's
Madeline Gotta was named to the 2019 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Women's Scholar All-West Region first team. The senior from San Diego, Calif., is majoring in Business Administration and boasts a 3.49 GPA.
Gotta was recently named All-West Coast Conference First Team by the league's head coaches. She was fourth in the conference with 65 shots, which ranks third in program history, and averaging 3.42 shots per game. During league play, she was tied for second in the WCC with 37 shots and a 4.11 shots per game average. She was fifth in conference play with five goals. Gotta finished the season with seven goals and four assists.
Gotta had three multiple point games this past season. She moved to eighth in program history with 37 points in her career. Her 13 goals rank 10th all-time at GU, and her 11 assists are sixth. Gotta's 135 career shots rank ninth. She was named to league's All-Freshman Team and honorable mention All-Conference in 2016.
To be eligible for Scholar All-Region recognition, student-athletes must meet the following criteria:
- 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) or better throughout career
- Started more than 50 percent of all games and significantly contribute to their team
- Nominated by head coach of current College Services member institution
- Junior or above in academic standing; and, if a transfer student, in second year at school
