OSU High Performance: This is the fifth year of a two-day meet, which starts on Friday afternoon with an expanded Distance Carnival, the pole vault, the hammer and the discus. The Distance Carnival includes the 1,500 and 5,000-meter races, and the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Over 2,500 competitors have entered the event, which has evolved from modest beginnings to become the jewel of OSU's outdoor season, and one of the premier regular-season meets in the Pacific Northwest. Forty-four teams or track clubs are expected to be in attendance spanning all levels of collegiate athletics. Some of the teams competing at the High Performance Meet this weekend includes Oregon, Gonzaga, Washington State, Idaho, Portland, Portland State, Santa Clara, Seattle U. and more.
Penn Relays: The Bulldogs make their first-ever appearance at the prestigious meet. The Penn Relays is the world's first — and most widely recognized — annual relay meet. Each year, this historic rite of spring draws crowds of up to 100,000 to the University of Pennsylvania's Franklin Field. Over the course of the three-day festival, which celebrates its 125th year in 2019, top high school, collegiate, masters and even Olympic athletes take to historic Franklin Field. The Penn Relays' status as America's largest amateur track meet goes back to the very first running meet, held in 1895 to stoke flagging student interest in track and field.
