Men’s Tennis Keeps Rolling with 4-3 Win Over LMU

Gonzaga improved to 5-1 in WCC play

SPOKANE, Wash. — Gonzaga men's tennis claimed another 4-3 win, its third in the last four matches, on Saturday against LMU at the Stevens Center.

The win has the Zags (14-6, 5-1) in second in the West Coast Conference and tied in the loss column with BYU, who is 6-1 in league play. GU has played in four consecutive 4-3 matches, winning three, including yesterday's victory over Pepperdine.

Gonzaga earned the doubles point, and then got out to a 3-1 lead before LMU battled back and tied the score. GU got the final point from Emilio Moreno in a tight, three-set match on No. 5 to get the win.

GU's Sam Feit and Ruadhan O'Sullivan won 6-2, and then after an LMU win on No. 2, Hunter Egger and Kyle Everly clinched the point with a 7-5 victory.

Feit kept his momentum in singles, getting a straight-sets 7-6(3), 6-3 win on No.1. Vincent Rettke then made it 3-1 overall with a 7-5, 6-3 win on No. 4.

After LMU tied it with wins on Nos. 3 and 6, it came down to Moreno who won a tiebreak in the first and then lost a tiebreak in the second. The Zag dominated the third set 6-1 for the win.

Gonzaga will hit the road to Pacific and Saint Mary's on Friday and Saturday. Links to live coverage will be available at GoZags.com.
