Box Score STOCKTON, Calif. — Gonzaga men's tennis continued its string of 4-3 matches, but came out on the short side of a loss at Pacific on Friday afternoon in Stockton, Calif.
Gonzaga (14-7, 5-2) fell behind 2-0 after dropping the doubles point and the first singles match, but battled back to tie the score at 3-3 before Pacific (5-14, 2-5) won the last match in a tiebreak.
Vincent Rettke started the Gonzaga comeback attempt with a 6-3, 6-4 singles win on No. 4 to make the score 2-1, but Pacific answered with a win to go up 3-1.
Ruadhan O'Sullivan earned a win on No. 2 with a 7-6, 6-2 victory, and
Sam Feit knotted the match at 3-3 with a three-set win on No. 1, 6-4, 3-6, 6-1.
The match came down to No. 5 between GU's
Emilio Moreno and UOP's Josef Southcombe. The two traded 6-4 wins in the first two sets, but Southcombe outlasted the Zag in a tiebreak to win the match and claim the team victory.
Gonzaga will stay in the Bay Area to take on Saint Mary's on Saturday at 1 p.m.
