RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The Gonzaga men's soccer team finished with a flurry in a 2-0 win at Cal Baptist on Saturday in Riverside, Calif.
With the score knotted at 0-0 through the 83 minutes, Gonzaga's
Nathaniel Tolton got free for his first-career goal and ultimately the game-winning goal in the 84
th minute. Tolton's goal was assisted by
Mark McEntosh.
GU (1-6-0) added one more goal in the 89
th minute from freshman
Kupa'a Fernandez. The ball squeezed through a pair of Cal Baptist (1-5-1) defenders in front of the net and Fernandez put it home to seal the game.
Gonzaga goalkeeper
Johan Garibay picked up his first-career shutout with a pair of saves as the Zags controlled play throughout the contest.
GU outshot Cal Baptist 12-6 overall and 5-2 in shots on goal. GU also took seven corner kicks in the game against just five for CBU.
