Hogan Breaks Indoor 5K Program Record

Zags run new Top-10 times at UW Invitational

SEATTLE – Gonzaga's Peter Hogan broke the indoor 5,000-meter school record on the first day of the UW Invitational at the Dempsey Center Friday.

Hogan crossed the line at 14:13.82, breaking Jake Perrin's previous program record set last year at the same meet. Hogan placed seventh overall Friday, and sixth in his heat. His new record was a personal best by 14 seconds.

Dominic Arce ran a 40-second personal record, 14:25.49, placing 11th overall. His finish ranks fourth on the GU all-time list. Myles Bach cruised to a 14:36.55 finish in his 5K debut. The freshman's time is ninth in program history. Riley Moore (14:39.13) and Phillip Fishburn (14:40.93) were close behind.

"Really good running tonight at Dempsey," Director of Gonzaga Track Pat Tyson said. "It was a great start for Gonzaga in day one of UW Invitational. Since 2008, only nine Zags had run 14:40 or faster indoors, today there were five! Also since 2008, only six Zags ran sub-14:37, today there were three!  We're excited for tomorrow's racing to wrap up a successful business trip!"

Three Zags will kickoff day two in the women's mile at 10:20 a.m. Live coverage will be available on GoZags.com.
